It's been a long, hot summer here in Chicago but the feel of autumn is finally in the air. It's great to finally cool off and take a breather. But that doesn't mean that we're going to stop moving. Here at KennelSource we've been busy working on some new ideas for Pawtracker™ that we think will change the way you and your customers look at kennel management.
But before we jump ahead of ourseleves we figured it was time to add and update some bits of Pawtracker™. And as always the updates and changes are immediately available in all of our accounts. There's no additional charge. There's nothing that you need to do. Just login and enjoy!

When we were first developing our dog kennel application, Pawtracker™, one of the requirements we set out to meet at the very beginning was allowing our clients to have control of their data. Afteral, your client and pet information is what runs your business. It's not difficult to imagine that without it your day-to-day operations would come to a halt.
We knew early on that we didn't want to keep clients by making it hard for them to leave and use a different application. You wouldn't accept that from your bank, phone or cable company so why should you put up with it with your choice of software? Keeping customers by making them feel like it's too hard or too much work to switch applications if they're unhappy with your product is not going to foster a healthy relationship. It will only make them angrier. We believe that being open, honest, and straight forward from the very beginning (just like in "real life" relationship) is what helps to create long lasting customers.
Which is why we make it easy for you to export your data at any time.
Tip #2: Exporting Your Data
Under "Manage" we have a page called "Export Data". Presently, you can export your Clients, Pets, Transactions, and Chart of Accounts (COA) each in their own Excel file by simply clicking a button. It's so easy that adding an image to accompany this tip is unnecessary and would only add clutter.
And while your information is backed up every day on our servers, this ability to make your own backup whenever you feel like it should also help you feel like you're in control of your data. And like I said, if for whatever reason you decide that Pawtracker™ isn't right for you just export your data and start again right where you left off.
By being open and honest it's our hope that you'll be one of our customers for a long time to come.

We've decided to start posting some tips on our web site for those people who use Pawtracker™ as their kennel management system. The idea is to keep them short and sweet while hopefully teaching you something about the application that you might not have known. And maybe it'll even save you some more time.
Tip #1: Just Use the Zip Code
When adding in address information, whether it be a new client or even an employee, you can save yourself a little bit of time by skipping the city and state text fields and instead just enter the appropriate zip code. Pawtracker™ will automatically fill in the correct city and state when you save the record. And while it may not seem like much it's a real blessing when you've got a few new clients to add to your application.

One thing that's great about working on the most useful kennel application on the market is getting positive feedback from our users. We really like it when they tell us how easy Pawtracker is to use and how much their employees enjoy using it. But what really puts a smile on our face is when we get an unexpected message like this one:
FYI, we got a call from someone in Portland this morning who had found a female pitbull with a Downtown Dog Lounge tag on it (we put one of our generic tags on all of our dogs). I quickly took our pet spreadsheet from Pawtracker and sorted by breed (pit bulls, pit mixes, American staffordshire) and gender and found 23 dogs that loosely fit the description. One of our employees went down the list and started calling clients and•sure enough•one of our customers who recently moved to Portland had her "Daisy Doo" recently run away. In less than two hours we reunited the two!
Steve
Downtown Dog Lounge
So, with a little ingenuity on Steve's part and armed with Pawtracker they were able to reunite Daisy Doo with her family. Glad we could help!
As an aside: I think Steve's idea of adding a tag to each of the dogs that come through the door of Downtown Dog Lounge is a great one. Not only can it help in situations like these but they also serve as in inexpensive means of promoting your business.

We're very pleased to announce that Pawtracker™ is now version 2.0! This new version is a shift from 1.0 and all of the changes and fixes leading up to this moment. Version 2.0 corrected and improved upon nuances throughout the application as well as adding some new features that will pave the way to the next update.
Please review the following list of the updates, enhancements and bug fixes for this release:
2.0.0
- Added Package Code for packages
- Added the ability to check in directly from make appointment for non boarding services
- Removed circular buttons for add service - now use only one small green add button
- Corrected Clock In and Clock Out time to show current time in drop downs
- Updated different required vaccinations for each location (multiple location clients)
- Corrected discount calculation in transaction detail report
- Improved search functionality by making the keyboard "Enter" button work
- Added estimated charges in house
- Global open invoices / global post
- Grooming notes / global notes copied on reservation
- Improved history grid date filter
- Open invoices and balances to show invoices for all locations
- Optimized in house view in clients page - not longer times out
- Corrected PawPay payment time stamp
- Point packages can be set to global to be made available at all locations (multiple location clients)
- Added post date on invoices
- Fixed rapid check in/cancel/no show
- Removed confirmation step for add new pet
- Removed confirmation step for add new client
- Updated pet visits report
2.0.1
- Changed Default dates on report filters to current date and month
- Export transactions opens in new window
- Fixed Item bug
- NEW Pawtracker subscription expiration reminders
Along with the updates, fixes, and changes we have also added a number of new features that we are sure will make the software even better and hopefully more useful to you. One of the first things that you'll notice right away is that the log in page has had a face lift. We've redesigned the log in screen so that it may be customized for your business. For instance, the Pawtracker™ logo can be changed to your own logo! From the Mange section choose "Application Settings" from the bottom the list on the left-hand side of the screen. Click on the Pawtracker™ logo and upload your very own.
We're also very excited to offer FREE document upload and storage to all of our clients. Each location is allocated 5MB of data storage that can be used to lighten the paper load in your offices. Use the document upload (which is located on the Clients section of the application) to store agreements and pet vaccinations or any other client specific information that you would need quick access to from anywhere in the world. You can also track how much space you've used from the Manage section under "Location Management". File upload is restricted to Microsoft Word files (.doc) and Adobe PDF. Additional storage space is available for a small monthly fee. Please contact someone from our team if you need more space.
One of the last changes that we have made is to enforce the user limitation that we have had in place from the very beginning. Each location can have a maximum of four (4) users logged into the application at the same time. It's very important to remember to log out of the application when you are done using it to make available your slot. Simply closing the web browser does not log the user out of the application. To make this easier, we have added indicators next to user names (Manage > User Management) which show who is currently logged in. Additional users can log into the application at the same time for a small monthly fee. Please contact someone from our team if you need to increase the number of simultaneous users.
As always, to our supporting clients, we thank you for choosing KennelSource for your pet care technology needs. And to those of you who may still be thinking about using Pawtracker™ for you kennel needs - now has never been a better time.

On Saturday, February 19, 2005 something very exciting happened although without much fanfare and hoopla. Here at KennelSource we reached an important milestone in the life of our young company. We got to celebrate the birthday of something special and important to us - Pawtracker™. It was one year ago on Saturday that we emerged from our final testing period and publicly introduced our premier kennel management software application to the world. If you're a small business owner like us (maybe you own a kennel or dog walking or pet sitting business) then you know what that feeling was like the first day everything became "official." Well, that's how it felt for us back then.
Everything was fresh and new and being the new kids on the block we weren't sure what to expect. But a lot of positive things have happened in the last year and people are really beginning to see how Pawtracker™ can actually change the way they do business. Our application takes a lot of hassle out of time and resource management and it gives our users more time to do the things that they need to do. We understand that managing software and databases shouldn't be one of those things.
And with one year under our belt we're almost ready to introduce a VERY big thing that will graduate version 1.0 to 2.0. This will certainly be another grand moment for us and we can't wait to share it with you.
So, to the people who have been with us since day one to those who are just learning about us today, we look forward to helping you succeed in what you do. Thank you for all of your support.

Receiving payment for the work you do and the services you provide shouldn't be like pulling teeth. However, a sometimes common problem in any new business is not receiving payment from some of the clients. Have you ever heard, "I forgot my credit card - can I just pay you next time?" Or how about, "My husband has the checkbook - can you just send us a bill?" These same people wouldn't think of doing that at the grocery store for a gallon of milk so why should your business be treated any different?
All of that changes today. Today, KennelSource would like to announce that our premier pet care management system, Pawtrackerâ„¢, has an exciting, new module that we're calling PawPayâ„¢. With the help of the PawPayâ„¢ module, there will never be an excuse for one of your employees not to collect a payment from a customer.
PawPayâ„¢ works by assigning and storing client credit card information into the application thereby enabling you, the business owner, to automatically collect their payment. With one click your employees can help to reduce your receivables to nothing.
